I heard someone tell a story the other day about their wife’s experience with an out of body experience (confirming life after death for her).  She apparently had a serious illness and the doctors had to do an emergency surgery on her. As they performed this surgery, she supposedly stated that she remembered watching the doctors work on her body from above. She remembers hearing the doctors talk back and forth and even heard other people talking from a room or two away.

Suddenly she was no longer watching the doctors operate on her but she supposedly stated that she was in another place where there was a bright light. No “tunnel” experience, just a bright light. She stated that there were people in the area. Lots of people. Some of them were in one area and ecstatically happy. Then there was another area where some of the people were sitting around very studiously listening to a “teacher”. Others were milling all around while others were huddled together and seemed to be anxiously awaiting something.

I began to listen very carefully to the person telling this story. I even got teary eyed thinking of Heaven and the joy that must be there. I was pretty ok with everything so far. Even intrigued by the energy of the speaker that was telling the story. OK, back to the storyteller’s story.

This wife had stated that there was no real noticeable gender of anyone, however, she did state that everyone was young and beautiful. Then she stated that there was a man (I thought there were no genders) that walked up to her and she felt a great amount of love. The most love she had ever felt. She stated that this “love” that she felt was an overwhelming love like she had never felt before. This person told her that it was not her time but she could choose to stay there or go back. She told this person she wanted to stay. This person proceeded to show her the two or three small daughters she had on earth and explained how these girls would grow up without a mother. Then she decided to go back.

I was tearing up about this time because I personally was associating the “man” as our Savior, Jesus Christ. However, about now in the story, somehow the person was revealed as to be her grandfather. That really ruined it for me! I was still wiping my eyes when he stated this and all of a sudden I feltafterlife-in-heaven a bit of disappointment. I was thinking all along that this was Jesus and now it is her Grandfather!!? Oh My goodness! The person telling this story about his wife stated that all she remembered about her grandfather was an overweight, jolly man that would take his teeth out and kid around with the grand kids.

The storyteller said that she did go back and was revived and she lived to tell about it. Her experience proved to her – and apparently him – that there is life after death.  He wrapped up the story by saying this (somewhat paraphrased)… “I said all of this to say this… Folks, there is a Heaven! There is no hell and a place of everlasting turmoil and pain. We are all on a journey and all at different stages. We all go to the same place and that place is Heaven.” YIKES!!!! I wanted to RUN out of the room!! What was he saying!? That this woman  – his wife – that told him this story has the insight of the ages to tell us all that the Bible is a bunch of hooey and there is no hell and we are all going to the same place? What about these scriptures?

Revelation 21:8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Matthew 25:41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Revelation 20:10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Matthew 25:46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven.

The above scripture references were found on this website: The Official King James Bible online

Then there are these also from this website: Bible.org – What the Bible says about Hell

Everyone will exist eternally either in heaven or hell (Daniel 12:2,3; Matthew 25:46; John 5:28; Revelation 20:14,15).

Heaven or hell is determined by whether a person believes (puts their trust) in Christ alone to save them (John 3:16, 36, etc.).

Hell was designed originally for Satan and his demons (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10)

Hell will also punish the sin of those who reject Christ (Matthew 13:41,50; Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8).

Hell is conscious torment.

Matthew 13:50 “furnace of fire…weeping and gnashing of teeth”

Mark 9:47-48 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire— 48 where ‘Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched.’

Revelation 14:10 “he will be tormented with fire and brimstone”

Hell is eternal and irreversible.

Revelation 14:11 “the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever and they have no rest day and night”

Revelation 20:14 “This is the second death, the lake of fire”

Revelation 20:15If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire”

Some of those may be repeating… but that is even better. I can never get enough of the Word Of God! The Bible!

I tell you people! There are many, many folks out there that will tell you that there are many ways to God and that we are all going to the same place just taking different roads to get there! NO!! THAT IS A LIE STRAIGHT FROM HELL! Yes! Hell!!

I was sitting at the end of the table by this person when they came back to sit down. I was trying to wipe the last bit of moisture from my eyes (from when I thought I knew where he was going with the story). He had sat down and he reached out and touched my arm and patted it as if to say… “it will be ok.” I kind of got creeped out. I had met this person about a month or so ago and thought I liked him. He was a pleasant man with a jolly side. Everyone seems to really like him. I am not saying he is not a nice man. I am saying he is very deceived by the “evil one” – Satan. This is right where Satan wants people. In that “feel good, happy” place. That way they seemingly have no reason to search for the truth, because they already have it… supposedly. RUN! RUN! AS FAST AS YOU CAN! If you are not a well-seasoned Christian, you have no business associating with people like this. I am not saying be rude or ugly to them. Just like them at a distance. They will sway you to and fro if you are not solid in your beliefs and know that you know!

Please do not misunderstand me! I AM NOT saying that this person or his wife are evil. NO! I am saying they are misled and misguided because the Word of God is infallible! It is living and breathing. If anyone can read any of the scriptures above and believe that there is no Hell, then they are VERY misguided and mislead.

Hebrews 4:12

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God is very specific about the existence of Heaven and Hell. Watch the Video below. It is an excellent one if you have questions. It gives scriptures and some may be some of the ones above, but like I said, they all bear repeating.2197121ivyynbq0zo

JUST REMEMBER… God loves you so much. He sent His only Son Jesus to die for you! If there is no Hell, then why did Jesus die? God calls you His beloved! Please call out to him today.

My last post about Abraham and God was about the prayer that we see God initiating with Abraham. HSlide 1e decides to tell Abraham about the planned destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah based on the relationship that He has with him. Abraham is known as a “friend of God”. Let’s look at two scriptures that reference that.

2 Chronicles 20:7

Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever?

James 2:23

And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.

Have you ever thought about being called a “friend of God”? What an honor that is. In fact, if we do His will and live according to Jesus’ teachings, we are “friends of God”. Now that is not saying that we ever really attain the status of Abraham, Moses or any of those wonderful folks, however, they were just human beings like us. Ordinary men and women called to do extraordinary things for God. We too are called to do extraordinary things for God in this day and age. Sometimes, just getting through a day is pretty extraordinary, right? Pastor Brad said today, if we call ourselves Christians and we claim the name of Jesus then we will have troubles. It goes with the territory. We do not have to let that destroy us though! Count it all joy because you have trouble because you preach or tell or stand up for God and/or Christ. We must not be afraid of the enemy! He has no power over us! We are a child of the Most High God!

We are children of the Most High God, however, to be able to have access to the wonderful, close communion with our Father one must spend time with Him. Walk with Him. Talk with Him. Bask in His love, grace and mercy. Until this is done there will never be anything shared from Him as He did with Abraham. THE MOST HIGH GODAbraham spent time with God. I believe he spent daily time with God and communed with Him regularly. This is why God called him a friend and why God saw fit to include Abraham in the process of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Notice that Lot and his family were never mentioned in this dialogue. When the cities were destroyed, the scriptures do say that God remembered Abraham and spared Lot and his family.

Back to the conversation that Abraham and God are having… In his conversation with God, he pleads for mercy for Sodom and Gomorrah. The scripture tells us that he appeals to God and His mercy and simply asks God for mercy for Sodom. The scripture can speak for itself quite well. Let’s look at this wonderful dialogue with Abraham and God. This is one of my favorite conversations in the Bible because it shows the realness of Abraham and the self-assuredness that he has when he comes to ask God these questions. He is not prideful or arrogant, but realizes his place yet is “friends” with God and feels very comfortable talking and asking God these questions. Let’s look at the scripture.

Genesis 18:22-33

22 Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord. 23 And Abraham came near and said, “Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24 Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it? 25 Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

26 So the Lord said, “Ifabam-pleads I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.”

27 Then Abraham answered and said, “Indeed now, I who am but dust and ashes have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord: 28 Suppose there were five less than the fifty righteous; would You destroy all of the city for lack of five?”

So He said, “If I find there forty-five, I will not destroy it.”

29 And he spoke to Him yet again and said, “Suppose there should be forty found there?”

So He said, “I will not do it for the sake of forty.”

30 Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Suppose thirty should be found there?”

So He said, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”

31 And he said, “Indeed now, I have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord: Suppose twenty should be found there?”

So He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of twenty.”

32 Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?”

And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.” 33 So the Lord went His way as soon as He had finished speaking with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.

Did you notice the humility that Abraham approaches the Lord with? He may be a “friend of God” but he is totally and completely respectful of God and Who He is! Abraham is very comfortable with God though. He is not approaching in fear and trembling. He seems very comfortable bAbraham-prays-Sodom-Cook-Communications-237x300ut respectful. Appealing to God’s mercy that he knows He has, knowing that God will never destroy the righteous with the wicked. I think it is interesting too that God ends the conversation. His last statement is final… “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.” Then it was at this point that the Lord left Abraham and Abraham went home, knowing all that he possibly could do had been done. It was settled. There were not 10 righteous men in all of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot had a wife and 2 daughters. The sons-in-law were mentioned but they did not take Lot seriously so they were not saved. They perished with the rest of the wicked ones.

In reading Ray Steadman’s sermon on this topic “How Prayer Works”, I find many of his comments so intriguing but this one is most wonderful and I want to include it here because it is what I believe also. How Abraham was changed and even brought closer to God in this time of prayer with our Lord.

Abraham is never more like God than at the moment he is praying for Sodom. His prayer didpraying man not save the city, and it was never intended to do so, but it did make Abraham manifest in his own life the mercy and the compassion of God. This is why God asks us to pray, that we might take upon ourselves something of his own character.

In that great verse about prayer in Philippians 4:6 (RSV), Paul says, “Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” And what happens? God will do the thing you ask? No, that is not the promise. “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding” (Philippians 4:7a RSV), which you cannot reason out, which you cannot explain, which no circumstance will permit you to understand, the peace that rests at the heart of God, “will possess your hearts and minds,” (Philippians 4:7b RSV). Circumstances will not be any different. You rise from prayer and find your mother-in-law just as nasty as ever, your boss just as unreasonable, your children just as irritating, your husband just as stubborn, your wife just as bossy. Ah, but you have the peace of God that passes all understanding, which keeps your heart and mind through any circumstance.”

Now these two angels that were sent to Sodom and Gomorrah to gather Lot and his family gathered them up and sent them out of the city. The rest of the story is told in Chapter 19 and it is quite interesting to read. The angels had a chore gathering Lot and his family, but once they set them on their way and Lot and his family were safe in their destination, the “fire and brimstone” began to fall and the cities were consumed with fire and totally destroyed,

The video I included in my last post was a very well done video. It was quite informative and one that every believer should watch. This story of these two cities being destroyed by “fire and brimstone” is a factual story with actual historical significance. I urge you to read the entire story and watch the video that I am including again, below.

There are two main themes in this post. One, if you want a close friendship with God, you must commune with Him. Walk and talk with Him daily. Secondly, if you want to be one of the “saved” ones at the end of time when God tells Jesus to go “get His children” and we celebrate everlasting life with Him in Heaven, you must accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and let Him be your example in life. Then you will not be consumed by the righteous, all consuming fire of God Almighty as Sodom and Gomorrah were. Here is a link to a simple Plan of Salvation. This will easily walk you through what it means to be a Christian and a Christ follower. He is Lord of our lives and this website will help you understand what that means.

Please listen to this song also, it tells about the day when the eastern sky will split open and a trumpet will sound and we, as Christians, will meet Jesus in the air! Jesus Returns to gather His children! Come quick Lord Jesus!

The Video – Sodom and Gomorrah

In this day and age, we are bombarded with many attacks from the enemy!  We, as Christians, MUST claim victory over the enemy – Satan!

I have experienced, first hand, the enemy and his unhappiness at my activity to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.  He is not happy when we try to help those folks around us to see that God is NOT DEAD! And that He loves each individual on the planet.  God does not wish that any should perish but have everlasting life! 2_peter_3.9_nkjv_wallpaper

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[b] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Dear friends, when you share God’s wonderful Word with others and try to explain to them that God is a good God and He loves them, some will NOT understand or WANT to understand.  You have done your part, you must leave the results to God.  That is the hardest thing I think I have ever done.  I see these folks and want to share eternity with them.  I want them to know the Saving Grace and Mercy of Jesus Christ and His love for them.  I want them to experience the love and acceptance and  forgiveness that I have experienced.  However, not everyone is willing or able.  They have closed their minds and hearts and there is nothing that you can do to change that.  God has to do His work.  Some will come around eventually and some will not.  Unfortunately the lord of this world – Satan – has blinded the eyes and hearts of those folks.

2 Corinthians 4:1-6

Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God,[a] we do not lose heart. But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice[b] cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 03656f84907a5730e9c838b8037e5cd2In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants[c] for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

So, with that said, all we can do is pray and seek God ourselves. Pray for safety from the evil one and pray for those that are mislead and unbelieving. That is where the Armor of God has to be put into place.

Ephesians 6:10-18

The Whole Armor of Godorigin_Uguns-36

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Be strong in the faith, pray, tell others and leave the rest to God. When you have been silenced by the unbelievers, just pray for them.  Never give up!  God is Alive!

The Video – I Still Believe – Russ Taff  (lyrics are below)

The Song – I Still Believe – Russ Taff

I’ve been out in a cave for forty days
With only a spark to light my way
I want to give out I want to give in
This is our crime and this is our sin
But I still believe, I still believe
Through the pain and through the grief
Through the lies and through the storms
Through the cries and through the wars
Oh, I still believe
Oh, I still believe
Wow, love, love, love

Flat on my back out at sea
I’m a hoping these waves don’t cover me
I’m turned and tossed upon the waves
When the darkness comes I feel the grave
But I still believe, I still believe
Through the cold and through the heat
Through the rain and through the tears
Through the crowds and through the cheers
Oh, I still believe
You can’t take that away from me
No! I believe
Wow, love, love, love

I’ll march this road and I’ll climb this hill
Upon my knees if I have to
I’ll take my place upon this stage
I’ll wait till the end of time for You
I do believe, I believe
You can’t take that away from me
Oh, I still believe

For people like us in places like this
We need all the hope that we can get
I believe, I believe
Through the shame and the grief
Through the heartache, through the tears
Through the waiting and all the years
I still believe, I must believe
Oh, I still believe
Oh, love, love, love
I still believe!>
